  • Completion Date: May 25, 2021
  • Location: Hickory, NC

Why did the customer contact us?

[company, data=name] was referred to this Commercial Facility by a retired subcontractor. The facility manager was in need of quotes for quarterly dryer vent services, to enhance the performance of the dryers as well as to maintain a standard of safety. The majority of dryer-related fires are caused by a buildup of dust, fiber and lint, according to NFPA's research.

Solutions provided:

To avoid interrupting business operations, our team arrived at 6:30 am to begin the duct cleaning with the goal of being out before the facility opened.

Our team used the HEPA vacuum on the interior for the first cleaning to accommodate the bends and curves in the dryer's ductwork. A technician was able to push compressed air through the exhaust vent, where it was removed by the vacuum at the other end. This allowed our techs to target trapped fiber and lint from both sides of the vent, loosening and removing it. In order to push air through the ductwork, our techs use a long, flexible rod that can be inserted into the ducts and controlled manually. Different types of nozzles and attachments are used, including a "whip," which uses a number of short, soft hoses to sweep and loosen debris. While whips are not typically used for residential dryer vents, commercial dryer vents are much larger, making the whip an ideal tool for cleaning.

Frequently used dryers, both in commercial and residential buildings, benefit greatly from regularly scheduled cleanings.
